Dr Som-Ling Leung is no ordinary dentist. Since 2012, she has been volunteering in Namuga, a remote community of the Solomon Islands. In today's episode, she describes her first day in Namuga, where the locals lined up from the early morning, having not seen a dentist in the area for 2 years. Unsurprisingly, her anaesthetic supplies ran out by 1pm that afternoon Expecting to run a 3 year program, she has now spent the past 9 years bringing other volunteer dentists to the islands. Connecting with the local community, Dr Som-Ling Leung has trained locals and worked with schools to create meaningful impact.
